Phillies, Hamels Agree To Three Year Deal

The Phillies announced yesterday that they have managed to avoid arbitration with Cole Hamels and both parties have agreed to a 3-year, $20.5 million deal. This has got to be the best news I’ve heard since the Yankees (my favourite American League team) announced that they managed to swipe Mark Teixeira from every other teams’ noses.

Considering Hamels is one of my favourite pitchers in the Majors, and he also plays for my favourite team in the National League (Philadelphia Phillies), I’m definitely relieved that he’s going to be sticking around in Philadelphia!! Couple this with the fact that Jenny just bought be an authentic Cole Hamels home jersey for Christmas, I definitely didn’t want to see Cole run off to another team anytime soon!

Great job inking your ace, Phillies!

Power Cut at Work, Early Xmas Present!!

Work was cut short by a couple of hours last night. At around 9:15pm, all electricity in the pharmacy suddenly went down. No news as to why it went down, but as far as I could tell, everyone from our shop, all the way down Broadway, up until Route 66 was out. And only on our side.

My Christmas present from Jenny arrived today hehe. An authentic Cole Hamels Phillies jersey woot woot!! :D I was expecting the jersey to be a bit oversized, as it was a size 40 (M), the same size as my replica Chien-Ming Wang Yankees jersey, but to my surprise, it was actually smaller in both sleeve length and chest/waist measurements. It was a bit longer than my Wang jersey though. I love it! Thanks so much, Bobo! ;)

The back of the jersey w/ HAMELS, #35 and the MLB logo, along with #35 and the Majestic logo on the left sleeve :)

MLB Authentic Collection tag :D

Phillies logo adorns the front of the jersey :)

Phillies Win World Series! Oden Injured. Again.

YES! THE PHILLIES HAVE DONE IT! They’ve won it, 4 games to 1! The 2008 WORLD SERIES! MLB Champions for just the second time in team history! Cole Hamels picks up MVP honours! :D

From ’80 (1980, their most recent championship, AND their only other championship) to ’08. Quite fitting, don’t you agree? :P Maybe next time, Tampa Bay!

And now moving on to the NBA. The 2008-09 season officially started yesterday, with the Lakers playing at home against a young Trailblazers team. All eyes are on Greg Oden’s long-overdue NBA debut. The #1 draft pick of the 2007-08 NBA draft, who missed the entire 07-08 season due to microfracture knee surgery, who’s HIGHLY ANTICIPATED big league debut was cut short yet again due to an injury.

Oden sprained his ankle 3 minutes into the game, hobbled around until halftime, and is expected to miss 2-4 weeks… :| It’s been more than 1 year after being drafted, and he’s yet to score his first basket (Oden was 0 for 4 in scoring)…

Phillies/Rays Game Postponed

Damnit. Looks like I have to wait another day to see my 2nd favourite team, the Philadelphia Phillies, win just their 2nd World Series in team history. Thanks a lot, rain… :(

The game’s tied at 2-2, middle of the 6th inning. Tampa Bay’s Kazmir’s already been relieved by Balfour.

I hope Hamels picks up the win, hope Utley wakes up and starts blasting homers again like he did in Game 1, I hope Howard can pick up where he left off with another multi-homer game. I hope.
