Damn It, Missed March LOL

Damn it. Looks like my streak has ended yet again. Gonna try harder to stick to it :)

So what’s happened? Major events include going on a 2 week trip to Melbourne with Jenny in February (fantastic city. Seriously considering moving there!) and celebrating my quarter century birthday with Mum, Dad, Dill, Steph and Jenny at an Italian restaurant in the City called Da Vinci (very nice food and atmosphere, if I may add!).

Work-wise, just been working at Newmarket a few nights a week (including the odd extra shift when Pete needed cover), and pretty regular locum shifts at St Lukes, Avondale and Epsom. Quite steady.

In the MLB and NBA sports world (I don’t care much for cricket :P )…
- The Phillies just routed the Mets 11-0 behind Doc’s stellar 7-inning shutout;
- The Yankees edged the Twins with smart hitting;
- Mo picked up his 4th save of the season, quietly marching towards the record books. I believe he needed 42 to tie The Hoff’s 601 save record, so 42 – 2 = 38… 38 saves to go;
- Cole Hamels was raped a few days ago in the third inning. Hope he regains his 2008 playoffs MVP form soon!! The Phils need him;
- The Lakers have been slumping (2 game losing streak) since going 19-1 after the All-Star break. Not too worried about them. They’ve already clinched a playoff berth I think :)

Merry Christmas

First of all, I’d like to wish everyone who stumbles upon this blog post a very MERRY CHRISTMAS!! Hope you all had a fantastic time catching up with family, friends, and maybe some much needed sleep!! :P

24th-25th December 2010

Christmas this year has been pretty awesome. Mum and Dad were in New Zealand for the first time in about 4-5 years, so being able to celebrate with them was great!! We even put up the old Christmas tree too!! Been ages since we did that. Got each other presents, wrapped them up and put them under the tree haha. Had a nice dinner at home on Christmas Eve with Dad, Mum, Dill and Steph (Jenny worked so had to come late hehe), then exchanged gifts.

From Bobo, I received my newest toy, the Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L USM prime lens!! :D :D The thing is fast, quiet, accurate, and best of all, the depth of field you can achieve with them is UNCANNY!! Thanks so much babe!! :)

From Dill and Steph, I got Mario Party 8 for the Wii. Tried it last night with Dill, Steph and Jenny, and I must say, the game is quite fun!! Thanks, guys!! :)

And finally from Mum and Dad, both Dill and I got a new Nintendo Wii from them. Not just any Wii though, it’s the limited edition 25th Anniversary Super Mario Wii in (Ferrari) Red!! :D Thanks, Mum!! Thanks, Dad!!

Jenny and I were out shopping with Mum and Dad at Sylvia Park a couple of weeks back, when we stumbled upon a set of 8 pots and pans made of stone and made in Germany. We could tell this was what the folks have been looking for, and the price was pretty good too, so we got them that for Christmas :)

All in all, this was a very enjoyable Christmas for me. Haven’t really gotten into the Christmas spirit like this year in many years now, so it was a nice change!!

26th December 2010

Boxing Day. It was also Dad’s birthday, so we (me, Dill, Steph, Jenny, Mum) all took him to the Manurewa Botanical Gardens for photos and lunch at Miko Cafe (situated inside the Gardens). The day was fantastic. Perfect weather (started raining hardout on the 27th, so we considered ourselves extremely fortunate haha), and perfect company. Couple that with my new 35mm L prime lens + my trusty Canon EOS 40D, and you have a perfect day ahead of you! Lunch was great. However it was a pity to find out they no longer serve the fish and chips as a regular menu item anymore… :(

In the evening, we took him to karaoke at Mini Karaoke in the city :) We all knew how much he loves singing, so we decided to treat him to that!! Jenny’s treat. Thanks again, boo! :D Afterwards, it was back to our place for some Wii Sports!! :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DAD!! We all hope you had a fantastic day!! We thoroughly enjoyed spending the day with you!! :D

Happy Birthday, Boo!!

June 28th, 2010. Happy 24th Birthday, Boo!! :D Stop fretting about being old, because no matter how old you are, I’ll still be older than you by 3 months, so if I’m not complaining, you shouldn’t either :P

I hope you had a good day :) Hope the pasta I made wasn’t revolting, hope you like your new HTC Legend, and I hope you enjoyed the movie!! (“Sex and the City 2″)

SATC2 was surprisingly watchable. I guess it was because I walked into the movie with the lowest of expectations lol… Nevertheless, it was enjoyable to say the least (a bit cheesy and cliche at times). Definitely a movie for the girls (and guys, too. But only if they’re going with their girls. Otherwise it would be just weird hehe) – 6/10

K-Rod = FAIL

First of all, I’d like to wish my girlfriend a very Happy 23rd Birthday for yesterday! I hope you had a great day cuz I did! :D

Watching the Yankees @Mets game on Sky EPSN as I post this. Yanks lead 4-2, bottom of the 9th. Wang pitched pretty solidly through 6 innings, but definitely not fully back to his old self yet, although his velocity and sinker are returning slowly.

I LOL’d hard when in a dream matchup, closing pitcher vs opposing closer batting, K-Rod vs. Mo, resulted in K-Rod walking Mo, helping Rivera pick up his very first career RBI LOL!

A lot of people speak highly of Francisco Rodriguez, but I really don’t see what’s so great about him. His command is ridiculous. And if you manage to walk the opposing pitcher (esp. if this is Mariano Rivera, who’s hardly had an at-bat; this one being his 3rd. to be precise), you must be pretty useless.

UPDATE: The game just ended, with Mo breezing through the bottom of the 9th, picking up his 500th career save. Yankees win it.

CONGRATULATIONS, MARIANO RIVERA!! The greatest closer of all-time!! 500 career saves!!

On other news, Michael Jackson sadly passed away a few days ago… Why do all the legends die so young?…

Rest in Peace, Michael Jackson, the King of Pop… 29th August 1958 – 25th June 2009

Happy 23rd Birthday To Me :)

Two days ago (12th March 2009), I turned 23 years old. Wow. 23. My age is starting to sound old. In a mere two more years, I will be one quarter of a century years old! :o

Mum, Dill, Jenny and I went to La Porchetta on Hobson St for dinner on Thursday. It was great. Very nice dinner.

Mum and Dad got my Michelin Pilot Preceda tyres for my new rims about a month ago, and I suggested that the tyres could be my present. Dill got me Queen’s “Live in Wembley Stadium” DVD. I just finished watching it, and all I can say is WHOA. Queen have got to be THE BEST rock band I’ve ever seen. So much charisma, especially from Freddie Mercury (rest in peace)!! The man can SING and WORK THE CROWD!! :D

There were a few songs that could’ve been included, but I definitely have no qualms.

Sound: 10/10 (excellent quality for a remastered 1986 recording of their concert)
Picture: 8.5/10 (very watchable and reasonable, but some camera angles were a bit fuzzy)
Song Selection: 9/10 (a few could’ve been left out, and similarly, a few were missing)
Extras: n/a (have yet to check out the 2nd extras DVD)
Overall (not an average): An easy 9/10

Dill and I also just took Mum to the airport earlier this morning. She’s going back to Taiwan for a month to visit my grandma and meet up with Dad.

Jenny also kindly shouted me dinner (on the 14th March) at Oh Calcutta in Parnell as a b’day present :) Dill and Steph also came along, which was great! I must say, besides the fact that we had to leave at 8:30pm (as they had many more customers coming in for a later dinner time), the food was delicious! The butter chicken I had has got to be one of the best I’ve ever tasted!

Thanks so much for the lovely dinner, baby! I know it must’ve been quite expensive, but I thoroughly enjoyed it! :D
